The Enterprise Ethereum Alliance (EEA) and Blockchain Education Network (BEN) have announced a virtual job fair to attract Web 3.0 talent.

Web 3.0 aims to move away from centralisation to put content ownership, privacy, and control back in the hands of creators and people. As the largest decentralised platform, Ethereum is leading the charge.

There are over 100 members of the EEA, including giants like SAP, Microsoft, Accenture, FedEx, JP Morgan, and more.

However, Ethereum has been plagued with issues like slow transaction speeds and high fees. Ethereum 2.0 should address these problems, but it’s set to rollout over several years.

Research suggests that newer platforms that have addressed many of Ethereum’s issues are growing faster in attracting developers and the subsequent number of DApps (decentralised applications) than the current leader at similar points in its history. Ethereum has the first-mover advantage, but that can’t be taken for granted.

The virtual job fair will be a free, two-hour event on 31 March 2022 at 2pm EST (7pm BST) and will educate job seekers about Web 3.0 opportunities and connect them with hiring managers and organisations actively looking for talent.

Dan Burnett, Executive Director of the EEA, said:

“The Web3 future is here, and it is being driven by Ethereum adoption. As career opportunities skyrocket around NFTs, DeFi, gaming, and apps and services, many job seekers – from working professionals to college students to recent graduates – are looking for careers in Ethereum but want to know what skills are needed and what company to work for.

This job fair is an excellent opportunity to connect job seekers and hiring organisations looking to collaborate on the future of Ethereum and Web3.”

Participating hiring organisations include Accenture, ConsenSys, Hacken.io, IO Builders, Microsoft, Palm NFT Studio, SKALE Labs, Steel Perlot, Quantstamp, and Trail of Bits.

Firms that will be presenting the skills and requirements to succeed in the Web 3.0 era include  Banco Santander, BEN, CoinFund, the Ethereum Foundation, the EEA, Gitcoin, The Graph, Messari, Status.im, and Skale Labs.

Chris Buren, Social Chair at BEN, commented:

“From classrooms to careers, the virtual job fair connects future-ready students, graduates, and professionals with employers across a wide variety of Ethereum-based hiring organisations.

Job seekers can ask questions about job projects and working environments and hear directly from leaders on how to build a coveted Web3 career in design, building, marketing, community development, economics, and more.”

Research from Coinbase found that 56 percent of the world’s top 50 universities now offer at least one course on blockchain—up from 42 percent in 2018. Additionally, LinkedIn claims that job postings with titles containing terms like “Ethereum” and “blockchain” have rocketed 395 percent from 2020 to 2021.
